When in noise canceling mode it also uses a built-in Amp to make the sound a bit louder too. They also have a somewhat unique shape that takes a little getting used to initially, but they will stay in your ears way better than normal earbuds. If you buy the warranty it's pretty easy to trade them in though.
Though one warning, that one feature does break kinda easily. They also have a made for samsung version that had actually allows volume control for most Android phones, which is apparently pretty rare outside of Samsung made headphones. Noise canceling on and off, and also a midrange boosting so you can quickly switch to where you can clearly hear people talking. The incredibly small earbud design and ultra-portable mini charging case are small enough to fit in the coin pocket of your skinny jeans, while still providing. They have noise canceling that is somehow even better than most of their over the ear versions. They were a big purchase for me 2 years ago, but ever since we have been inseparable. They are crazy expensive but the Bose QC20 are amazing in loud situations.
